Shin Min Daily News (新明日报) celebrates 50 glorious years of print media. As part of the newspaper’s golden jubilee celebration, it organized an inaugural health talk (Living Well – 活得好) at the SPH Auditorium for its loyal readers who have grown up with the newspapers over the years.
Fitness entrepreneur Lionel Lim from Personal Training Singapore was invited as one of the two guest speakers for this event.
Thanks to the generosity of long-time working sponsor Antz Latex, all participants were delighted to receive a resistance band which they could keep after the workout.
Before beginning the workout, Lionel shared a few quick tips on how to choose the right intensity of the resistance band.
For today’s purpose, taking into consideration the age group and fitness level, Lionel chose the orange coloured resistance band for the participants.
Thereafter, armed with an orange resistance band in hand, Lionel led the audience in a customized mass workout. Billed as the alternative workout suitable for all ages because of its low impact and for those who dislike going to the gym, the 30 minute resistance band showcase broke new ground as all participants had the luxury of sitting comfortably in their chairs while exercising. The exercise sequence was specially designed to make it fun, accessible and easy.
It was heartwarming to see the audience participate full-on. More importantly, they understood how to work the different muscle groups while executing the proper pull-push techniques.
A strong advocate of health and fitness, Lionel believes in working out at least twice a week with the resistance band routine he formulated. Besides helping to build lean toned muscles, a bigger benefit is to prevent chronic diseases, reduce aches and pains; and in the process live a healthier lifestyle for our family and loved ones.
